PCHA Honored as Finalist for Tampa Bay’s Best Places to Work in 2011

The Tampa Bay Business Journal (TBBJ) announced that PCHA is a finalist for Tampa Bay’s Best Places to Work in 2011.  PCHA employees were each asked to anonymously answer a questionnaire directly to TBBJ.  According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the employee survey measured 10 key engagement categories focusing on items including team effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, manager effectiveness, compensation and benefits.

PCHA has opened the waiting list for applications for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom units at Rainbow Village. Rent for these apartments is based on approximately 30% of the family’s income.

Youth Aging Out of Foster Care find housing opportunities with PCHA

Beginning November 1, the Pinellas County Housing Authority (PCHA) will be implementing their new Section 8 Voucher preference for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care in Pinellas County.  This preference will provide housing for those youth that are aging out of foster care as long as they are also eligible for PCHA’s Section 8 Voucher program. 

According to the National Center for Housing and Child Welfare, youth aging out of the foster care system need safe, stable and affordable housing.  There is no single funding stream for youth housing therefore, it is important to tap into a variety of funding streams to meet the housing needs of young people.  Housing Authorities are an invaluable collaboration to provide housing and housing resources for those exiting foster care.

PCHA provides ACCESS to residents!

PCHA has partnered with the Florida Department of Children and Families ACCESS (Automated Community Connection to Economic Self-Sufficiency) program as a self-service site.

PCHA’s Resident Services & Programs Department located at 11479 Ulmerton Road in Largo will provide equipment such as computers, printer, phone and fax to assist residents when applying for various government assistance programs like temporary cash assistance, Medicaid and food stamps.  The ACCESS program will be operational in June 2010.
