Pinellas County Housing Authority to Host Section 3 Workshop for Contractors
Pinellas County Housing Authority’s (PCHA) Resident Services Department will conduct a Section 3 workshop for contractors on Thursday, October 18, 2012. All contractors are encouraged to attend.
Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, most commonly referred to as Section 3, requires that recipients of U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds, to the greatest extent possible, provide job training, employment, and contract opportunities for low- or very-low income residents in connection with projects and activities in their neighborhoods.
PCHA is committed to compliance with Section 3 requirements. Section 3 is applicable to all projects and activities funded, in part or in whole, with PCHAs federal funds. Section 3 benefits low income and very-low income residents of Pinellas County. Residents and businesses that qualify as a Section 3 resident or business concern may receive preferences in hiring, training and contracting opportunities when available.

HUD Awards PCHA Funding to Continue Programs for Resident Education, Training and Employment

PINELLAS COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY RECOGNIZED AS HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE YEAR BY STATEWIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING ORGANIZATION
Pinellas County Housing Authority (PCHA) was recently honored as best in the state by the Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO) at its 2012 Annual Convention & Trade Show in Orlando.
The “Housing Authority of the Year” award recognized the housing authority that ranked highest for commitment to solving housing and associated community problems, innovation, industry involvement, affiliations with state and federal associations, awards received, and high performer designation from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“This award is a testament to the strategic direction provided by PCHA’s Board of Commissioners and the dedication of PCHA’s extraordinary staff. This is just the beginning of what our team will accomplish” said executive director Debra Johnson. “We have been able to significantly improve the quality of life for residents by creating affordable housing opportunities and by coordinating community resources to help residents overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.”
