The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program supports your journey by allowing you to move anywhere in the U.S. where there’s a participating housing authority.

If you're planning to move to Pinellas County with your voucher, this is called a port-in — and yes, we are currently accepting port-ins and are billing!

🔑 What You Need to Know:

  • Portability means you can use your voucher outside the area where it was originally issued.

  • If you're moving to Pinellas County, we’ll work with your current housing authority to help make the transition smooth.

  • If you're already a PCHA participant and wish to move out of our area, we’ll guide you through that process too.

The following Clearwater zip codes are outside of PCHA’s jurisdiction and therefore not eligible for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

(Please note: This exclusion does not apply to HUD-VASH participants.)

💵 Research Fair Market Rents

Before beginning your housing search, you can review HUD’s current Fair Market Rents (FMRs) for the area where you plan to live.

Fair Market Rents are annual estimates of local rental costs and are used to help establish Housing Choice Voucher payment standards.

Please remember: The listed FMR is not a guarantee that a specific unit will be approved or that your voucher will cover the full advertised rent. Final affordability depends on several factors, including the unit’s bedroom size, utilities, your household income, PCHA’s applicable payment standard and rent reasonableness requirements.
